The Florida Keys attract visitors from all over the world all year round for a taste of sunshine and endless activities for all ages. Generally, people flock to beachside hotels for lodging while vacationing in the area, but the best kept secret in the Florida Keys boasts an experience above any other: Houseboating.
The area's legendary coral reefs make it difficult to navigate larger vessels such as houseboats, but not to worry, all of our houseboats in Key Largo and Marathon are permanently docked. The houseboats are all fully equipped, so they're perfect to use as a home base. Some may see this as a disadvantage, but houseboating in the Keys isn't your run-of-the-mill houseboat adventure. These islands have much more to offer.
In Marathon, mid-Keys, the 38' Houseboat rental is docked at your very own private tropical island about a mile off-shore. Talk about relaxing,"Charlie's Island" is yours and only yours to enjoy during your rental. Your island is outfitted with a picnic area, grill, hammocks and a bathroom area, but a motorized boat is included so you may get to and from shore for shopping and local eateries, or scope out prime snorkeling, fishing and scuba areas.
What's Included:
- Motorized boat
- Kayaks
- Snorkel gear
- Fishing gear
InKey Largo, only a 45 minute drive from Miami, Gilbert's Resort offers fantastic amenities and nearby activities for their houseboat visitors. With four different houseboat models to choose from, your group of 3-6 will have somewhere comfortable to call home away from home. The houseboat is docked at the marina, and is fully air conditioned with electricity, cable TV, wifi, dvd player and stereo. Fishing in the Keys is a real treat, with a variety of fish too numerous to list. There is no fishing license required to fish directly from the dock and you can even bring your catch to the restaurant; the chef will prepare it special for you!
What's Included:
- Pool
- Private beach lined with tiki huts
- Tiki bar with nightly live entertainment

After a fun filled day of sun and sea, come back to your cozy "boatel" and relax on the top deck for an unforgettable sunset. Houseboating in the Florida Keys is unlike any other vacation you've ever experienced, and one that will be tough to beat.
Which experience would you most prefer: a resort-side, amenitiy rich location in Key Largo at Gilbert's Resort? Or your own private island in Marathon?
