Shuswap Lake sits nestled about halfway between Calgary and Vancouver in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. Affectionately referred to as "The Shuswaps," this area is a houseboating and recreational haven for locals and visitors alike.

The Shuswaps are connected in a X shape. Waterway Marina near Sicamous is the gateway to Shuswap Lake, which is on on the southern end. Theres a myriad of sightseeing points and activities no matter which direction you go.

The Salmon Arm is the southwestern arm of the lake, just through the Sicamous Narrows from the marina. If you head west and beach at Herald Park, a short and sweet 4 mile walk will lead you to Margaret Falls. If you head east from the marina, there are some Indian Pictographs at Marble Point.

As you head further east, you will come across Cinnemousin Narrows that heads north into the Seymour Arm and Shuswap Lake. If you bypass the Narrows and keep heading east, you will find yourself in the Anstey Arm of the lake, which, at the end is a giant cedar forest where you can hike to an overlook of Hunakwa Lake.

At the Cinnemousin Narrows, there are floating stores and Haven Point, a nice hike and view of Anstey Arm. The Narrows is a center of fun activities in the summer with floating stores and a restaurant. If you go through the Narrows and head west, you're in Shuswap Lake where there is Anglemont Golf Course near Anglemont or Shuswap Lake Estates Golf Course near Blind Bay. There is white water rafting near Celista, and Copper Island is a great area for diving (but not for parking a houseboat). And on the far western tip of the arm near Lee Creek is where the Sockeye Salmon run takes place in September; over 2 million Sockeye spawn up the Adams River, an easy walk along the river shoreline.

East through the Cinnemousin Narrows is the Seymour Arm of the lake. A ways down the arm (about 5.5 hours by houseboat from the marina) is Albas Falls, which is a loop hike to view a series of waterfalls. There are also Indian Pictographs in this area near Beach Bay.

Fish anywhere! Fishing is great on The Shuswaps, with Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Kokannee and Dolly Varden as common catches.

From swimming, hiking, fishing, water sports, mountain biking, sun drenched beaches and beautiful waterfalls, The Shuswaps have it all. Make the most of your next houseboat vacation in the breathtaking Canadian wilderness.
